Hey, FWIW, I'm averaging about 21-22 mpg in my BJ70 with 394 XXX kms. I'm planning on building an excel spreadsheet to track over time including oil fills/consumption.

I just wanted to thank Fantom for suppling me his diesel compression guage and taking the readings. Each cylinder reads #1 480 bls #2 480bls #3 485 bls #4 480 bls
He told me these are good numbers. #2 and #3 are suspected of leaking oil in from the cylinder head valve stems..which I assume are hard as a rock then the pliable rubber seal that they should be. Its a old engine..so this is perhaps what is expected.

I need to do a valve adjustment, then check the injection timing, which I have never done before and have the mixture checked. What is the length of time needed between having the injectors spray pattern checked?

I wonder, if maybe this spring, I take the head off to have the seals checked, the pre-cups should be replaced. This is a original engine! Everything I think of it being original, it still surprises me for a 30 year old truck that the engine would last this long :)

I once traveled 80-90 mph and did it ever such fuel! I think the econonmy droped 25%. Shows that drag is squared with the increase in speed.
