Lets talk generators....

I'm looking for info on diesel Yamaha's if anyone is knowledgeable... I just got a fairly older EDL6500s. No idea if it runs or not. I plan to rebuild it along the way.

So I would not mind finding a good forum for generators..or maybe we have a tech on here... Like D'animal is for Stihl.

My normal gen is a Honda powered 6000 watt, multiquip.

Both these gens are about the same power, but when I get the diesel one running I hope to run it on veg oil.

The diesel yamaha is a 12 hp twin cylinder. Mega high hours I am told. So might need rings/pistons etc.

I'm also here looking for hints on what to look for in a diesel generator. I have a line on an Onan 6kw diesel that came off a fire truck. Anything I should look for? Are these generally started with 12v system?

Longisland60 my Yamaha is 12 volt. I hooked it up today and fired it up. Seemed to run fine. 6800 hrs on mine...LOL no idea what has been done to it prior for maintenance.

did you buy that onan yet?
