Hello all, this is a fairly simple question but I figured I may as well ask a few land cruiser enthusiast opinions instead of just my local mechanics. So i am just wondering what I should do for general upkeep on my 85' BJ70. I understand oil changes every 5,000 km or so is recommended but any input would be appreciated. sorry for the noob level of this question... Thanks.

Hello,

This is a general schedule for 1986 70 Series Land Cruisers. It should be good for 1985 models as well.

I have included both normal and severe conditions.

Hope this helps.

Hey Juan did you forget the attachment?

Hello,

Try downloading and opening on a PC.

PDFs do not show when uploaded as pictures do, and opening might be tricky on a portable device. Ask me how I know.

I have another schedule from a user's manual, but finding/scanning it (as a JPG!) will have to wait until the weekend.

Hello,

You're welcome.

You can do most of the issues on the list by yourself. Everything is designed for easy access/inspection/replacement/repair; a few tools and you are good to go. It is part of the pleasure of owning a Cruiser. It makes an excellent excuse for working in the garage as well...

Very true! What tools would you recommend to have handy? I am not overly mechanically inclined but sure I could figure some things out like replacing filters and greasing etc. Thanks!

You should get a manual they have suggested tools for maintenance and all the recommended service intervals. This is the section on changing the oil.

very true that would be great. any specific one I should be searching for? Or does a general 70 series manual do. I know I have seen some online but would prefer a hard copy. Thanks Juan

Not sure, I'm in Australia so probably a bit easier for me. Here's the front and back of my manual, maybe you can search for the ISBN?
