gear pattern? coast side??!

It's wrong for sure, but I can't figure from any chart which direction the pinion should go? In toyota manual shift away the pinion and then other charts it may say should be deeper?

I have tried the fattest shim and the thinnest. It is a drivetech ring and pinion, which i would not get again..

If I increase the backlash by moving ring away from pinion one notch, it improves a little. By the sierragear page chart it kind of says it is acceptable?

Or it is too deep!! I am already on the thinnest shim, but the aftermarket pinion is a different size to oem, which has been a pia.

either way, too much face contact, so by the toyota manual the pinion should be deeper.
