I just picked up the field repair kit today.
Seam Grip® Field Repair Kit by Gear Aid® For Fast Outdoor Gear Repairs - Gear Aid
I already have a roll of tenacious tape which has repaired everything from my Kelty Carport to outdoor chair covers. This is very sticky, tough tape and makes permanent repairs.
The seam grip glue is pretty great stuff, just did a repair on my old Big Agnes insulated air fill sleep pad that finally got a hole at Rubithion. I'm pretty sure you could glue two pieces of fabric together and it would last longer than the fabric.
The kit is very light compact and has enough room to add a few needles and some thread, although I'm a bit surprised they weren't included.
The kit is about the size of a waterproof match container (it is definitely not water proof), and comes with a rather extensive instruction sheet (unread at this point).
Cost was $6.99 at Sportsman's Warehouse.
For the size, cost, and weight I will carry it on every trip, car camping or backpacking.
