The fuse for the tach, voltage, and temp gauge has blown twice in the past 2 weeks. Any ideas why or an easy way to trace a fault or short. I suspect old wiring insulation is the cause, but I can't find the problem. Truck is a 1990 22re, extended cab.

Sounds like you're having a short. If you have done any modifications/repairs lately, start by double checking them. If not you will have to start diagnosing the cluster wiring.

No recent repairs or mods. 20 000 ks on new head, timing etc. I pulled the cluster out on the weekend to inspect all that I could see. Nothing obvious so far. I'm thinking it's worn insulation shorting in the harness or against metal somewhere. I will keep replacing fuses and looking until spring.
