:bounce: Woo hoo it all works.
Did all the checks on gauges and all readings were as they should be. Ohms on fuel sender were all over the place, and had no reading at all at some points. Took the cover off the winding in the sender and cleaned all the fuel gum off it also the contact was a bit worn and loosing contact in places, so gave it a bit of a bend put it back together and hey presto fuel gauge worked.

Took wire off temp sender and earthed it to engine and the temp gauge started climbing so that should be good to go as well.

Sorted the issue with the horn the wiring diagram i was working off had the the green and white wire going to the horn and then the horn earthed. Looked at another wiring diagram i have and that had green and white wire going to horn and then a green and red wire going to horn (had been wondering what it was for) and now horn works as it should:cool:
I am one happy camper:D

Thanx very much to you Rudi for your help couldn't have done it without your wisdom:clap: If you weren't on the other side of the world i'd buy you a beer or several:beer:

I've been reading every thread I can find, but probably missed the answer. I have a 77 FJ40, and the oil gauge hits max in a few seconds with the key turned and engine not running. It stays at max with engine on. The oil gauge will drop to zero when sender ground wire is disconnected. Have replaced oil gauge once and sender twice, but no change in the behavior.
Could the answer be that my fuel gauge is not reducing voltage correctly for the oil gauge?
The ground wire was tested with a voltmeter and it read over 10 volts.
