Gary's Autumn Run 2015

Was up there a couple weekends ago, the trail was good, the washout was nothing bad, the colours were already beautiful and there was some frost in the shady areas as well as some fresh snow (tiny amounts behind trees on the peak). Since the weather was great there was a bit of traffic, met a few nice people on ATVs, a Jeep crowd with one guy that had to remove his front drive shaft due to a blown u-joint. Widow maker hill (or whatever it's called) seems to be a bit more dug up from what I remember, not a problem going down but heading up would be a bit different.

We can discuss the date and details at the October 8 CC meeting, hopefully we will go soon before the leafs all fall. Gary suggested Saturday, October 24 and wants to meet at Chilliwack Airport for breakfast at 9am with full fuel tanks. Pull out from Airport about 10ish.
Follow Vedder Road south through town and just before the bridge turn left on to Chilliwack Lake Road.
Meet at the Chilliwack River roadside parking pull-off, around 10:30ish for photo op. Back in for easy convoy pull out. Later, stop at Slesse Monument trail head around 11:00 for air down tires. We can discuss to BBQ or not to BBQ at meeting. If so, we will need 1 other truck with tall roof rack to string tarps. And we will also need 1 Tail Gunner.

Consensus at the meeting was to go for the 17th. I don't think I can make it this year! Bummer, it's a fun run!

I'll post this up on the CC Facebook group as well.

I hope to make the 24th but with my family commitments especially teenagers in sports, it's always doubtful. As long as someone is available to lead the 24th run (maybe even Gary again?), then sure, we can always do another one.

I can't make the 17th, but may be able to join in on the 24th if that one is a go. I would be able to leave about 11am from the Vedder Rd/Promontory Rd intersection area.

Let me know if the date officially changes, (ie. no one will be there on the 17th. as the meet is posted on Facebook as well).

Thanks!
Rob

I can join you guys on the 24th, if it's a go.
Has anyone checked a 'reliable source' for a weather forecast? We don't want a repeat of blizzard run that we had that one year. Sunny weather and the fall colours make it really worthwhile.

Head's up, CC members, Gary's Fall Run up Mount Cheam has now been changed to Saturday, October 24. Please pass the news along to those who don't often read these threads.
