Thought I’d share the latest project I’ve been working on. I purchased @BenCC printed over head switch setup awhile back, and I finally had some time to install my first switch, a garage door opener!
I was tired of replacing batteries and dealing with the clunky remote, so I wired both up to a momentary switch and my spare battery. I stepped down 12v to 3v, soldered the connections and fit everything into this little black box. I’m super happy with how it turned out.
I know Home Link is an option, but this is a cheaper and more custom solution. And you don’t have to track down a new overhead console off eBay with Home Link in it. This set up should also work for Auxbeam switches if there’s a momentary switch on your panel. I’ve got a few extra universal garage door openers and can make a few more. The remotes I have are compatible with chamberlain, craftsman and lift master garage doors.
I’d like to get $70 shipped which includes the custom momentary switch and wiring harness with in line fuse. Or $50 without the switch. Reach out with any questions!
