stripped out the PO's padding "upgrade". I was causing all kinds of issues with the brake and gas pedal not to mention it was holding in moisture. I am finding this stuff every where in the Cruiser. In the doors in the hatch under the carpet stuffed into the rear quarter panels

and to top it off he used Good Stuff foam in the tailgate. Let me tell you that was no fun to remove!

Sorry for the long silence but there has not been much to post about. We have the engine in and filled with fluids, found some leaks but it would not start. We are now running down PO's wiring gremlins and trying to get power to all the necessary components like the ECU distributor and other "little" things like that.

In good new I do have all the PO's foam bubble wrap out and the interior back in. Next step is the doors need a good de-foaming.

I will post if and when we get it running.

Coming together well. I like the line about switching the ratchets to "On" :)

Write down every part you removed and replaced, touched. Use it as a check list as you go through and check all hardware for being tight. Check all fluid lines until you think you qualify as ADD and check again!

Looking forward to VROOM

You are a more patient man than I will ever be. The foam job has to be one the more intriguing head scratchers I have seen on this forum. I wonder what the genesis of such wacky idea was? Did he plan on living somewhere cold in it?

I am happy to report that after almost 4 months and hundreds of hours of work (not to mention hundreds of $$$) my FZJ80 is running!

My son got it running when I was at work last week and I could not be happier. We have driven it around the shop yard and every thing seem to be working fine. We have to weld in a new cat system (this weeks project) rebuild the rear brake calipers then off to be inspected and registered. We should have it on the road by the end of the month.

After that new fluids for the front and rear diff's, rebuild the Briff's, a chassis lube and then in the spring body work.
