FZJ80 head union installation?

I just bought a new FZJ80 head to replace my current one, which is cracked. I noticed the new head comes with machined holes for the water bypass and heater hose ports. Does anyone know how to install those two unions? Do you press fit them or do you heat up the head and insert the ports while the aluminum is hot?

Are you talking about the two dowels that locate the head to correct position ?
