If I remember correctly the fans he used pull ~1600 cfm each. So 3200 cfm consistently.

Most aftermarket fans are rated restriction free. IIRC, as the flow restriction goes up, rpm/cfm output is reduced by square of the restriction, to bring it back up requires increasing the hp by the cube. The '80 has some thick/restrictive coolers, "so 3200 cfm consistently" is not realistic. It takes some hp to to get strong flow in the '80, it maybe "enough" but likely not close to a strong clutch setup.
 
So what your trying to say is the rating is lower based upon the restriction of the radiator and condenser? Clutch fans are great too but I think the right electric fan setup can be efficient as well.
