Good point! .... Maybe it would work to put the kids and luggage in, then fill the back with styrofoam peanuts. Probably keep the noise down, too.

This vehicle also had tons of other stuff getting tossed around including a laptop up front. I wouldn't want to take a laptop off the noggin' ala WWE wrestling style either.

A case for the Hi-Lift is OK if you make sure the Hi-Lift is totally dried out after every trip. It is amazing how fast rust can set in though in a day or so during a trip if a piece of metal is enclosed. The most rust I see on mine is on the main vertical piece of the jack from use. A smack of sandpaper and a few squirts of rustoleum would work well after a trip to really slow down the rust.

I'm very interested in seeing what you come up with. Please post pics!

I mounted mine across the wheel wells right behind the front seats. It's on bolts through the skin with rubber bushings and held down with spare lug nuts. Attached to the jack are a shovel, a pick-ax, a crow bar and a piece of flex pipe to patch the exhaust. I also have a 24 inch breaker bar in the jack handle.

All safe and dry and easy to access.

Just to prove i put my money where my mouth is I bought one of the covers from Hi lift jack bag 63" X 5 X 12"

it really does fit:

The canvas is good quality and so is the zipper. My only small gripe is the zipper is not covered and if left exposed on you fourby will no doubt fill up with mud and whatnot, leaving to a defective zipper no doubt in the long run.
