I recently upgraded to a Victory 4x4 fuel tank skid plate as well as White Knuckle rock sliders.

The day I installed the skid plate I promptly drove to Moab and discovered on Poison Spider Mesa Trail that the fuel tank skid plate made significant contact with the driveline and driveline flange upon full rear flex. Either side. Avoiding flex on this trail was tricky.

I then discovered that it even hits the rear lower control arm bolt. I’ve already notched the worst of it and went back to Moab for a test. Seems to be good now. Just frustrating on my new part.

My main question now is what you guys think I should do about the frame rail mounting conflict. Both these parts are fighting for the same frame rail space. I need to notch one or the other or both. I’d love some opinions. Hoping to do this today as I’m running out of days before Cruise Moab.

I’d take all of the material off the fuel tank skid as the sliders will see the most load and take the bigger beating. FWIW, I run BB skids and I have barely any scratches on my fuel tank skid. You’ve seen me wheel and I I’m pretty sure I’d be fine with the OEM skid.

It doesn't directly answer your question, but I'd ditch that fuel skid. Hangs low and interferes too much, you're having to compromise a lot just to keep it in place. I think the folks here who have actually damaged a stock fuel skid are few and far between.

Perfect! This is what I ended up doing.

Since the sliders take much more of a beating and they have holes that were being covered, I opted to notch the fuel tank skid. I got all the notched sections etch primed and painted black only to have to notch several of the sections deeper all over again. 😭

Oh wild! You’re saying not run a fuel tank skid plate at all? Do people do that?

Mine was rusty and I had already notched it (and weakened the factory one) with the first set of sliders. I was happy to replace it. But didn’t know people run without one.

I would swap back to a (new) OEM one. It sits high and tight and theres no interference. For reference, I run bud stainless skids throughout but still have my stock tank skid. And after running Golden Spike, I had a bunch of damage to them all except the fuel, never even dragged it
