I am having starting issues with our 1989 FJ-62. Sometimes it will start sometimes it won't. The problem is no fuel. When it wouldn't start I had power all the way to the connector by the fuel gauge sending unit. I ran a hot wire to the fuel pump and nothing. I replaced all the connectors and went to lunch. When I came back the truck started. It ran for about 10 mins and died. Now it will not start. I still have power at the connector by the fuel gauge sending unit. fuel pump replaced recently.

Chances are it's a dying fuel pump. Do you have a service manual? Do the check for the fuel pump with a jumper wire in the test block on the fire wall. By hooking up the jumper wire from terminal +B to FP you should hear the pump in the tank and have pressure in the return line. If you don't, the pump is bad. This test has always been accurate for me, two pumps died on me in my 62.

If you don't have a service manual get one, they are your friend especially with a 62. Available from SOR, Man a Fre and other vendors.

Thanks Tony, I did try the test port on the firewall and the fuel pump would not run. I plan on dropping the tank again and buying another pump. Mike
