Hey guys! Had what we suspect is maybe the fuel pump go out (starts, immediately dies). We're trying the relay first, and they tested it for continuity at auto zone where it read 1.3. Guy said usually there's specs like between 2 and 6 for example to gauge whether it's good or not. Anyone know the specs for this thing? Like to know what the 1.3 means. Thanks everyone, you guys are always a plethora of information.

Since you didn't specify the year, I assume it's exactly the same as mine.

The fuel pump repair section is 8 pages, with troubleshooting specifications. I'd recommend you invest in both the FSM and a digital multimeter. Both will set you back about what the cost of beer for an average month's repair work will cost.

I think the OP is talking about the fuel pump relay (FPR), which is in the driver's side front wheel well.

My FPR was intermittently not working last year, which was a PITA.
Here's my post:
Crank, No Start - Bad Fuel Pump Relay?

My conclusion was that my FPR was bad so I ordered a new one, no problems since. The relay was 20 years old and still tested fine per the FSM, but it was shot.

I later learned Denso also sells the relay, for $55 on Amazon, rather than the $85 I paid Mr. T for the FPR at my local dealership.

Do a search here on the 80 tech board for me info on the fuel pump relay. There are some good threads.

Good luck.

Hmm, might want to check for a bad fuel pump resistor as well. Symptom will be starts but then dies after about 3 seconds. Easy to check, its a small aluminum box with cooling fins mounted to the passenger side inner fender. To check, unplug and using a paper clip, jump the terminals on the harness side of the plug and see if that fixes the problem.
