I'm trying to replace the crappy tach that a PO had rigged into my 72 Pig in the combination gauge hole. I'm really trying to get the gauge cluster in to have a working fuel gauge. Tired of running out of fuel in traffic and having to tote a gas can around. :frown:

I have this cluster that I think is from a later model:

This is the plug in my truck:

The plug has numbers on the back side for each hole. The wires in these holes are:

1 - Yellow/black - oil pressure
2 - Yellow - power from fuse box
3 - White/black - ground
4 - Blank
5 - Red/black - power for lights
6 - Green/white - UNKNOWN to me
7 - Blank
8 - Yellow/white - UNKOWN to me
9 - Yellow/green - water temp sender
10 - Yellow/red - fuel sender
11 - Blank
12 - Blank

This is the pin out on the gauge and what hole # on the plug that they correspond to:

Is there a way to convert my plug/wiring or do I need to bite the bullet and get the correct style gauge, which I beleive looks like this:

Gauge

I have some gauges - but I'm in Costa Rica right now. If you need a whole on PM me and I'll look at my stash when I get back home to SoCal next week.

Don't know if it's any help or not but mine is an early 72 and it had the gauge you have circled in your last pic in it. No lights. Just four needles. Pretty sure it is original as it was completely caked in crud when I pulled it out for my resto.
