I'm trying to replace the crappy tach that a PO had rigged into my 72 Pig in the combination gauge hole. I'm really trying to get the gauge cluster in to have a working fuel gauge. Tired of running out of fuel in traffic and having to tote a gas can around.
I have this cluster that I think is from a later model:
This is the plug in my truck:
The plug has numbers on the back side for each hole. The wires in these holes are:
1 - Yellow/black - oil pressure
2 - Yellow - power from fuse box
3 - White/black - ground
4 - Blank
5 - Red/black - power for lights
6 - Green/white - UNKNOWN to me
7 - Blank
8 - Yellow/white - UNKOWN to me
9 - Yellow/green - water temp sender
10 - Yellow/red - fuel sender
11 - Blank
12 - Blank
This is the pin out on the gauge and what hole # on the plug that they correspond to:
Is there a way to convert my plug/wiring or do I need to bite the bullet and get the correct style gauge, which I beleive looks like this:
