I have tried searching, but have come up with nothing. After reading what everyone's fuel economy is, I am left scratching my head. I'm driving a 94 with 35" tires and stock gears with a few accessories to add some weight. I've been reading (since I've been on the board) that some people are getting anywhere from 14-16 mpg.

On the other hand, I am getting a solid 9 mpg city and 11 mpg highway. Is the fact that I have not regeared to 4.88 leading to this? or could it be something else?

Other Factors...I am also not revving the RPMs either. I will usually have it around to a little over 2,000 before I let it shift (Automatic).

Any help would be appreciated.

I got a little better than 13 mpg on the highway for a trip two weeks ago. OME heavy lift (no weight) and 33" firestone destinaiton M/T tires. Big mud tires hurt your gas milage a LOT by creating a bunch of added wind resistance. Lift hurts your milage by creating a larger profile for cutting through the wind..

You're not that far off.
 
If you didn't correct your speedo you could be significantly off on your mileage numbers....
 
It's funny you should mention that. I was pulled over by a state trooper this weekend for going 76 in a 65 and I thought I was going 70. I took the 80 to the toyota dealership to recalibrate the speedometer and they said it was fine. I thought the state trooper had misclocked me, but I guess the dealership didn't know what they were doing...Thanks,

You could borrow a GPS and make a little paint mark on your speedo for 55, 65, and 75......

Probly cheaper than speedo correction.....

We have a winner. GPS to know or get True Speed or the other gizmo Woody has up here that corrects the speedo. The 31 tooth gear won't cut it with 35's, 33's at best over stock on the correction gear.
 
Your odo/speedometer is off about 1mph for every 10mph you are traveling. Add 10 miles to every hundred you get out of a tank and your halfway there.

Now re-gear and you get the rest.:D Mine went down to 10mpg while running stock gears and 35's but went back to 12 after.
 
My 80 is totally stock and even removed my spare tire for commuting. I am getting 16.2 mpg averaged over my last 10 or so tanks. I'd guess my driving is about 40% city and 60% hilly highway between Corona and Irvine.

On the highway, I try to cruise at 65 to 70 mph, no faster, specifically to try to keep decent mpg.

I run synthetic engine oil and will switch to synthetic gear oils soon. My 80 has 83k miles total.

Mines off more than that. Im talking a good 7MPH off at about 30 miles an hour. Ive passed people going 25 in a 30 before.
