hey fellas does fryer oil go bad  i've got some in the basement that i fried a turkey in last year, kept downstairs not refridgerated. will it smell bad, it visually looks ok but not sure if i should risk a bird in it only to find it bad, hopefully your pickin up what i'm puttin down....

What is it? I used peanut oil in my turkey fryer 2 years ago, just put a plastic bag over the top under the lid and it was fine earlier this year. Mine was out in the garage for that time. If it doesn't smell bad, it should be OK.

You could always heat it up and fry something small to test it out.

Usually, if it's got a cloudy look to it or smells funky, I replace it.

Other than that, I'm with Chad, if there are no critters in your basement and it has been covered, cut some spuds and see how they taste.

thanx for the replies men...
