the springs from alpro and marlin , and from what 88 posted trailgear all need new front hangars and you have to change the shackle mounts, they are not direct bolt in. even if you have a factory solid axle truck or not.

The Allpro and Marlin springs are just a little longer in the front than the stock springs, you could bolt them in place using the stock front fixed hangers, but your shackle angle will most likely not be right. Also the advertised height will not be right, because the All pro and Marlin kit count the new front weld on hanger as part of the lift. The front hanger is about 2" tall I think, so without it, your lift will be and inch shorter. I believe the Trail Gear is the same way.

went out and looked.
you guys are right front shackles.
mine with alcans right at about 40 degrees.
wifes with the all pros more like 60 and not far at all from the cab mounts.
hers is sitting about 1 to 1.5 inchs lower then mine.
her springs are broke in. almost to a negative arch.
will have to see if she wants it lifted back up now.

what are the front mounts made of? that is thickness and measurements of the parts.
thanks

i have not went that far into it missouri, but i am sure if you go out to there website you can get the info you are looking for.

I don't understand what you mean.

looks like a good idea now.

just wondering the size and thickness of the square tube and the spring mounts.

I could use 3 of them if I do it.
her truck
my truck
one that I am doing a solid axle swap on.
guess that I could order one and make the others.

Their springs don't require the hanger, but I think if you asked any of them they'd highly recommend it, especially considering the low cost.

The advertised lift height of the springs is independent of the hanger. If you buy a 4" spring that's what you get. The hanger adds 1" of lift (according to Marlin Crawler's site). So a 4" spring and hanger will net 5" of lift (of course actual lift varies).

Also, this is from Marlin's site:

Front 4", 5" & 6" leaf springs 1979-1985 Toyota Pickups & 4Runners. They also fit solid axle converted 1986-1995 Pickups & 4Runners as well. The Front Spring pack features 6 leafs and are 1.5" longer than stock. When used with our front hanger, the front axle will be moved forward 1.5".

This from All-Pro's site:

Keep in mind that when installing our springs with our hangers and shackles, you will gain approximately 1.5" additional lift from these components. So a 4" spring in combination with our shackles and hangers will yield a 5.5" approximate total lift height.

Just measured my Allpro hanger, It is 2" square tubing. Don't know the thickness, but I would guess 3/16. The perches welded to the ends match up on the top and make it flat, for example, you could lay it on the floor or shop table to line it all up, then weld it up. The 18mm hole for the front spring mount is 3" to center measured from the top of the tubing. The rest you should be able to figure out. Hope that all makes sense.

Also, I figure everyone knows this, but if you only change one end of the spring, it only changes the lift by half or so. Ie, if you get 5" shackles, it will only lift the truck 2 1/2 inches.
