I searched but did not find an answer to this. I recently rebuilt my heater with the kit from MetricTLC (works great) only I the arm that connects to the heater flap got bent in the process. Now I go to change from heat to defrost and nothing happens. I think the arm broke off at the flap. Its up at a friends shop right now or I would take it apart tonight to check. Does anyone know where I can get another arm that connects to the flap? OR something to make this stronger? This is on a 1978 Fj40 if that helps.

The heater has two (2) flaps (dampers) which one is it? A pic would help.

I don't have access to the 40 right now, but it is the arm highlighted in red. I cannot find a parts breakdown of the front heater online. The post connects to the flap with two screws and connects to the selector switch.

The only one that might have one would be Shane at Metric TLC. You may also want to post in the Wanted Parts forum I'm sure someone will have it there. Good luck!

It could also be the two screws that hold the arm to the baffle. They are not very big and could shear. Another possibility is the lever arm broke where the screw holes were drilled. Could have it brazed if you can't find a replacement.

X2 on Shane at Metric TLC. He's a great guy.
