89 front drive shaft length?
Can someone please tell me the correct length of the front drive shaft for a 1989 Toyota 4wd, 3.0 V6, Base pickup? This truck has manual lockout hubs.
I bought a shaft and it is a little over 2" longer than the one I have in the truck. I have a little and I mean just a little vibration at times that I think is in the front shaft. I had a u-joint noise that cleared up when I greased it real good. I went ahead and bought a used shaft that I was going to have balanced and a u-joint put in it tomorrow. When I got under it to make sure of the length the "new" one is a little over 2" longer.
The largest part of the shaft...the tube nearest the trans case is where it seems to be shorter. Therefore making the entire shaft shorter. {the one in the truck} I am wondering if it has been cut and shortened due to a different front diff being put in it.
I am trying to figure out if the one I bought is the wrong one or if the truck has been altered prior to me buying it therefore having to have a shorter shaft.
I have to leave the hubs locked in alot in the winter so I can just shift into 4wd when needed. Thus not having to lock and unlock the hubs so I wanted to make sure the shaft is balanced right and in good shape.
So if someone know the correct length please give me some help here.
either way the one I bought isn't going to help me so if someone is needing it I will sell it CHEAP!
