Folks: which front bumpers don't require reusing and trimming the bumper cover? I got in a fender-bender on Friday and my front bumper cover is toast.

I thought there was a TJM bumper that doesn't require reusing the bumper cover, but I can't find it. I doubt I will be able to get a steel bumper in time, but thought I might as well do some due diligence.

TJM T13 comes with the filler plates to install without reusing your front bumper cover. They're hard to find online as a "Order Now" but I think Slee might be able to get them.

You can see the black plastic filler plates on mine in this pic under the headlights.

Which TJM bumper is this? Where did you get the plastic filler plates? Did they come with the bumper?

Doh, never mind. I see your response.

Did that bumper come painted or did you send it out for painting?

I too had a minor fender bender. damage only to bumper cover.. So I'm watching this with interest. One of my concerns is the weight of an aftermarket unit. I'd appreciate any comments about any of them being light weight.

These aren't lightweight. You would need to install a new front suspension (springs, shocks, and possibly UCA depending upon amount of lift).

The TJM T13 comes only in Powdercoated black, just like this one. Bare steel is not an option as far as I know.

I knew it wouldn’t be light but did not realize what else was needed to support the weight. Thx.

I’ve decided to stick with the stock bumper for now. The TJM is available from Slee, but I’m just not ready to spend that much on this truck. The bumper, plus winch, plus shipping would be in the neighborhood of $3k plus installation. I would also need to do suspension at the same time, which would be in the $3500 plus shipping and install for BP51s and SPC upper control arms. There are cheaper alternatives, but it would still be over $1k. And I’m not even sure if I can free up the KDSS valves.

The cost for parts and painting of my stock bumper will be on the order of $1k, so that would be partly offset by a TJM bumper (no need to buy a bumper cover and no need to paint it), but the out of pocket cost would still be significant.

Also, this is my daily driver, my fuel economy is already atrocious, and I rarely get the chance to take my truck to places where I might need the bumper.

A big shout out to @sleeoffroad for taking the time to explain the options to me — thanks Ben!

FWIW, what I'm planning to do is buy a bumper cover for around 240 plus shipping, have it primed, painted, and clear coated off the LC and then replacing it myself. Looks like a fairly straightforward replacement and the damage to mine is restricted to the bumper cover... no sheet metal or light damage. I'm figuring on 500 and a half day to full days work. I dont mind putting in the labor. Actually enjoy it.

My damage is more extensive. I need a new left front fender. That has to be painted and blended in with the hood and driver’s door.
