Okay, so here's where I am now. Put 100 series pads up front about 2 years ago. Took out the anti-squeel little metal things to get them on, no problems until about a month ago. I started getting this high-pitched squeel just at certain speeds, and then it got better for a while. Now the squeel is back with a vengeance. It is no longer intermittant, more constant.
Had a little extra time after work to look at the cruiser, took off the front tires and checked the brakes. From this preliminary check, I see that my front left pads look like they are wearing about twice as fast as the right front.
I have also experimented on the road by lightly applying my foot to the brake pedal while the squeeling is happening. When I do this, the noise goes away. Once I hit a bump again, the noise comes back. Any ideas on what I could or should do or look at?
