Front axle spindle

I have *most* of a disc brake axle. I was told it was a '76 fj40. I'm missing one of the spindles. There isn't a chance I can use my '71 fj40 spindles when I swap in the disc brake parts, is there? Also, didn't some things change somewhere along the way in the disc brakes? So when hunting down a new spindle, what years sure I be looking for. And is there a way I can make sure my partial front axle is actually from a '76?

Nope drum spindles are different. However Mini-truck/FJ-60-62 spindles will interchange with early LandCruiser disk brake parts.

Other interchangeable early LC disk to Mini/FJ60-62 (1979+) disk parts:

Knuckles
(Mini ones will give you the larger bolt pattern arms, and greater selection of high steer arms. Also there are more of the 79+ knuckles out there so spares are easier to come by.)

Inner hubs (usually to LC hubs from mini so you get the LC vented rotors)

Calipers
(Early 90’s V6 calipers have larger pistons = more stopping power, must use w/ vented rotors. Also if you use the larger calipers swap your master out with a mid 90’s FJ-80 non-ABS. The FJ-80 master moves more fluid. Or use LC calipers on 79+ knuckles w/ LC inner hubs w/OEM LC vented rotors)

Locking hubs
(As most know the Asians found on Mini’s and 60/62’s, due to their steel bodies are much stronger than the aluminum Warns. They also are about one inch shorter in profile so they give better clearance.)
