From springs to Crested Butte, best way to get there?

Curious if anyone knows the better route to take to get to crested butte from colo springs. I'm taking the haul for a rig with my old man, should be allot fun

I see 2 routes on google maps:

Any idea which one would be a better route? going to be taking my old mans new silverado to strech it's legs and hope to check out some spots along the way.
Any familiar with some nice stops along the way for eating? My guess is we will get breakfest/lunch on the road.

Either hwy 24 to 285 to 50,

or Hwy 50 the whole way to gunnison. Either way should take nearly the same time.

Taking hwy 50 all the way from Penrose is less hilly as it follows the river.

Either way is a nice drive.
