What a bunch of my decisions regarding gear boil down to are how much use and function will I get out of the unit compared to what I paid for the unit. Running three start-up businesses in a recession means I have little time and not a ton of funds to waste. I could see myself having a much nicer fridge when the Edgestar wears out but hopefully that won't be very soon and hopefully at that point too I'll be carrying a line of fridges.
Not to get off topic too much but its the same with many things I purchase. I have to ask "Will the extra money I pay be worth it?" Often the answer is no, but sometimes I kick myself for not spending the extra money - you have to be careful. Kinda like when I say I'll use my Edgestar for just about any trip in the US - but I wouldn't take it on a several month trek around the backroads and deserts of Africa. On a similar note though I'm not going to die if my fridge craps out in the middle of a run, but I could die if my truck breaks (steering, braking, recovery gear, etc) so that's where I spend the extra coin.
OK - now back on topic!
