Ford HP D60 front in a cruiser?

Can a 14bolt shaft be shortened and resplined? Would a 14b shaft fit into a D60 35 spline side gears (thinking ARB or Detroit Electrac eventually)

Then that is the route I'll go if either (1) the backing plate bolt pattern on the IH D60 is not the same as the Ford or Chevy pattern or (2) The spindle on the IH D60 is not big enough to accept a 1.5" shaft.

Thanks for all the info

I dont believe so too much neckdown, and a custom shaft would have to be made.

last quote here was about $30 each to bore spindles, might find a good shop that could do it. SInce you already have the axle.

Dave if you do go driverside, a great t case that bolts to the back of the OEM NV4500 tailhousing is the NP241. 2.72 low range and strong. You can even get a extra HD Dodge HD version of one from a Cummins and depending on your output spline count, can simply change the input gears to make it work. OEM all standard duty NP241s were behind V8s though. I run a Dodge SD version in my rig with a Dodge 23 spline SD NV4500 and am super pleased. All Dodge versions have a solid yoke as well instead of a slip yoke version like the chevies, which is why I chose to go dodge. Which version of the NV4500 do you have and had you bought your LC t case adapter yet? Also, even with the arm on the drivers side I think you will probably be OK if you switch sides assuming you'll be SOA (which I imagine you will). I'll take measurements for you next time, it should work fine I think...

Thanks, Andre. I already have the NV4500 adapted to a cruiser split case with 3:1 gears already so I'm staying with a passenger side drop.

I'll probably try to keep the stock driveline offset. I don't know why (must be the Toyota purist in me :D ) since after the axle swap the only cruiser part left would be the transfer case. Even then it will only be just the case, not even the gears inside are stock.
