I am about to be installing the terrain tamer fj80 suspension kit purchased from Ward at CAN-AM Cruisers, and i will be posting a complete guide to installing it with nice fancy photos. Before I do however, I do have one question for you all, in the FSM it says to replace the steering leading arm bolt, how necessary is this. If they are in good shape do I need to do it?

By the way I "inherited" this truck from my still very alive and well father lovetoskifast, he still has his 60... He thought I should ask about it on here, so I am.

Sorry for the rambling post,

Ben

The manual clearly states it is a non-reusable part... so yes, replace it.
You say the bolts are in "good shape," but what does that mean?
The threads aren't stripped, or rusted and the bolt doesn't have cracks or corrosion...is that all there is to a bolt?
In reality, you probably can reuse the bolts. Many guys do and will go on and on about how they have reused the same bolts 30 times and never had a problem. Sure. That is fine.

The reason it is a non-reusable part is because it has a friction stabilizer coating on the threads which aid in achieving the proper clamping tension for the torque specified in the diagram. Once the bolt is tightened once, the stabilizer coating is sacrificed and you will never achieve the same tension with that same torque again. You'll have to increase the torque by an unknown amount.

Go ahead and reuse them, if you must, but mark them with a paint marker and check the torque at regular intervals. Also, be sure to only tighten from the side with the washer. Otherwise they will come out and possibly leave you stranded.

Good, I was worried you might find it dick-ish, but then I realized I don't care. There is a reason for everything in the manual and on the vehicle. Treat her well and she'll treat you well

I need one of the bolts + nut listed as 1,750 (127,172) in the picture above. Is this the correct bolt here 48610-60022 Genuine Toyota Front Leading Arm Assembly - https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem/toyota~arm~assy~leading~front~48610-60022.html listed as 90106-20003? What kind of nut do I need to use? Is there anything else I need?

Those are torque ratings, not part numbers.

Frame-side hardware:

90105-18006 x2 (bolt)
90201-19011 x2 (flat washer)
90170-18007 x2 (nut)

Axle-side hardware:

90119-16003 x4 (bolt w/washer)
90179-16015 x4 (nut)

That is super helpful, thank you. If I may ask, how did you figure this out? With my old BMW, I go to RealOEM.com and click through the diagrams to find the part numbers. Is there something like this for Toyota/Lexus?

I like part numbers and have most of these memorized.

You can try this site:

Enter your frame/VIN and then go from there. Toyota parts catalogs are reasonably intuitive for a novice to find things.

That said, you can always contact a Toyota parts professional for assistance.
