FJ80 reliability

there is a big possibility you're gonna have trouble towing (220lbs torque with the 3FE and somewhere around 275lbs torque with the fzj80). i own a 91 as a daily driver. it is the most reliable engine i've ever owned. it starts everytime but when the hills hit, the 155hp let you down quickly as far as the price goes. i bought my 91 a couple years ago for around the 3000 area. if you're near flagstaff there's a fair deal on a FJ62 for only $2300 on craiglist. it has the 3FE as well.

I bought my 92 with 112K on it. It now has 198K. I drive it to Northern CA from Vancouver Wa (around 600 miles 1 way) 2 or more times a year. When I first bought it the hills sucked but after doing a little work and adjusting the throttle cables I have no problem maintaining 65 over the Siskiyou's and all of the passes in between.

Price does seem steep though.
