Somehow something got up above my front axle and destroyed the harness between the plugs. Naturally, it happened when my son borrowed the truck, so I have no idea what happened. I can certainly rebuild it myself, but I have so many projects on the docket I thought I better have a look at how much a replacement would cost. I did some searching, but haven't come up with anything. I searched for things like, "FJ80 Front Differential Locking Actuator Wire Harness" and perused parts diagrams. I thought I'd drop a quick note here for some guidance. Thanks for any help!

"Harness" is vague. Do you mean the pigtail from the actuator which is connected to the vehicle wiring system, or the larger section of the wiring system the actuator is connected to?

FWIW, part numbers are most easily found from the parts diagrams...

The floor section of the harness isn't available new. You'll have to get one from a donor or use the wiring harness repair manual.

The actuator pigtail isn't available separately. If that's where your problem is, you'll need to use the wiring harness repair manual.

There's another section the actuator plugs into, but it's not available as new either.

I know nothing about these people, but while I was Googling for you:

If you can't fix yours (which I wouldn't think likely), try someone like @slow95z who may have a used part.

This is the info you'll need to use the harness repair manual:

The white wire with the black tracer is the ground for both connectors.

Any luck on the search? I am also hunting for a front AND rear locking harness.

OMG! I retired this year and have been so busy I forgot about this until I started working on something else and once again saw the destroyed "pigtail".

Thanks so much for all the information. I have just been doing some and going through the FSM, but this is an excellent curation of what I'll need.

I did just "place an order" with ToyotaDXB, but I'm guessing they'll come back without the part available.

A classic  smack my head moment finding the thread I started by Googling. I am so glad I am retired and can now take my time and attend to things (other than all the traveling my wife has been dragging me on)!

I'll post some pictures shortly for some laughs. Thanks again for all the responses!

It's the 82164 wiring going from the actuator to the rest of the system.

Yeah, I came across these guys. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have the part either, but you can only tell because the "BUY NOW" button is backed by the code javascript:void(0); which leads to the bit bucket (code-eze for does nothing).

Hey I ended up building my own harness front and rear using OEM connectors at the indicator switch and actuator. Already went to Moab twice and no issues, (yet!) Ordered the pigtails from Amayama. PM me and I can send you the part numbers I got. I used an aftermarket connector where the harness joins at the FRONT inner fender near the cruise control actuator. And another aftermarket connector for the REAR, where the harness joins at the rear driver side frame/quarter panel. Everything else is OEM.

That's awesome. Nice job! I'll DM you.

A quick shot of the destruction. I was hoping the other end of the wire frame would still be safely attached to the actuator, but no such luck. In fact, I'll need to replace the actuator's connector.

A related question: is the role of the breather tube to make sure that is not submerged? The top doesn't seem to connect to anything. Does that seem right?
