Hello,
I am working on getting a new-to-me 1992 LC back on the road. Currently, the oil pan is leaking pretty bad. I have been deep diving into the forums, and I cannot find a straight answer to the question "Does the engine need to be lifted to remove the oil pan?" I'm totally fine removing the sway bar, etc., etc., but if I am going to need an engine hoist, I would like to know before tackling the project. Using an OEM cork gasket and advice from @OGBeno in a previous thread for the install. Thanks!

no it doesn't need lifted to replace the oil pan gasket. BUT many times other gaskets above the oil pan are also leaking, and the oil runs downhill and follows the seam of the pan so it does look like the oil pan is the biggest leak. Unless the rest of the engine's gaskets and seals have already been replaced you may need to do that also.

Hey I'd recommend doing rear main seal as well while you've got the truck down for maintenance. I wish I would have done mine at the same time
