Is anyone with 1991/1992 running an ARB twin compressor? Can you post what you are using for a mount? I planned on using the Torfab mount until I found out the AC line is different than the 1FZ making the mount unusable on the 3FE.

There doesn’t appear to be any thing for the 3FE engine bay unless building something custom.

This mount will likely be posted in the classifieds later this week.

Had the same issue on an early 80 with the 3FE — there's just not a clean bolt-on solution the way there is for the 1FZ engine bay. What I ended up doing was fabbing a simple bracket off the driver's side inner fender using the existing holes for the A/C line bracket as anchor points. Grabbed some 3mm steel flat bar, drilled it out, and used rubber-lined clamps to hold the compressor body steady. Not pretty, but it's solid and hasn't moved in years of off-road use.

The trickier part on the 3FE install is routing the intake away from heat — the exhaust manifold side gets pretty toasty on those early motors. I ran mine up and over toward the battery tray area with a short section of flex hose. If you do end up going custom, just make sure you've got clearance for the belt and that the compressor isn't fighting the fan shroud when the engine rocks. Worth test-fitting everything with the engine running before you button it up.

Would you mind posting a pic of your setup?

What about mounting on the PS rear fender, where the factory subwoofer is mounted?
Makes a good use of otherwise wasted space. People have done some really sweet setups on that location, IIRC.

I am considering that space. I’d prefer it be on the outside due to noise, but I’ll take the path of least resistance for now.

True about the noise. You could fabricate an insulated/noise blocking cover- add some on the inner fender skin as well… ?

hey guys, I'm in the same boat and the torfab mount doesn't align for 91. Pics would be awesome if anybody rigs something up

found these this morning. I'm in the process of moving soon so I don't think I'll be fabbing anything myself with the time crunch

I found both of these options too. I should have posted them up earlier. The engine bay mount is the one I prefer. Just need to decide if I want to order it since it would be coming from Malaysia. Also want to make sure it’s a reputable company.

The AKI Overland bracket is legit from what I have seen. Reputable enough for the job. Re: the concealed mount option and noise -- if that is your concern regardless of where you mount it, rubber isolators between the bracket feet and the body make a real difference. On mine I cut some 1/4 inch neoprene sheet into pads and sandwiched them under the mount feet before bolting everything down. The ARB twin is never going to be quiet but the vibration that transfers through the chassis basically disappears when you isolate it properly. Worth doing no matter which location you choose.

I received the AKI mount on Thursday. Was able to look at it this morning. Unfortunately, the cruise control module and ignition coil are going to be in the way. Coming up with a custom mount for the driver side corner will probably be easier than trying to relocate the cruise control module and ignition coil.
