Sorting through some FJ62 (1988) headlight wiring woes.

Can someone please start by educating me on what the blue female connector (drivers side) and the white female connector (pax side) are intended for? Photos attached. Headlight washers maybe? (Truck not equipped). It seems they would logically connect to the adjacent amber fender marker lighting, but those are currently connected via a different connection (seen in the pax side photo below) and both sides are operational. Additionally, those orange markers do not blink, correct? Simply just marker lighting? THANK YOU in advance!!

I’ve got the headlights functioning properly, OTHER than the pull to “flash” high beams (all lights completely extinguish when stalk is pulled) and no high beam idiot light (haven’t checked bulb yet, hard to access/change?) Additionally this evening, on occasion not consistent or common, when pushing forward to select high beams, all lights extinguish until pulled back to low beam. Feeling like a bad switch at the stalk/column to me. Are these switches still attainable? Are there any recommended mx items to “clean” them or maybe check a ground? Thanks all!!

Do your high beams ever work correctly? If so, I'd suspect the switch.

As far as the wires go: I have wondered the same thing, and don't have an answer. However, for whatever reason the U.S. spec FJ60/62s were basically near bare-bones stripped down models. The were soooo many options other markets got that we didn't, and everywhere you look throughout the vehicle there are unused plugs. It wouldn't surprise me if all Left-Hand-Drive cruisers got the same basic wiring harness.

I see a blue wire going into the natural coloured connector, that is the colour of the windscreen washer circuit (and wipers are blue with various coloured traces). Check for continuity with the washer pump wire to confirm.

Red with a yellow trace is the colour of the main beam headlight circuit. Check for continuity with one headlight to confirm.

I have an air filter warning on my (non-US) 1989 60 with a yellow with red trace wire, but that connector is wrong for the air filter switch.
