Hey Whitch, I was the one that posted we need more build ups on this forum and I am glad that you shared yours with us. I think a lot of people feel that their "typical 2.5" lift with bumpers" doesn't warrant a thread, but I love to hear about them all. Of course, we all love to see the pics as well. Your truck looks great and I like the custom stuff you have added. As you spend more time with your Aussie locker, keep us updated on the pros/cons from your experience. None of our Cruisers will ever be cookie cutter clones like all the TJ's out there.

Just wanted to chime in and say NICE JOB on the rig and the write up!
I actually really like the bumper...low profile and functional...bitchen!
I also liked howyou routed the exhaust...I was wondering if you could get away with one cat...Does it pass smog?

I live in a county that doesn't require emission testing, but my exhaust guy said it would likely pass. The new cats are just so much more efficiant that the old ones.
Thanks about the bumpe. The whole design was pretty much based on,"I can have that much steel for free??? Cool Cut it in half and I'll take it home."

Congratulations, I bet you have gained a lot of satisfaction from your experiences. Thanks for sharing. I would always read a story like this than another thread about OME suspensions vs. ____. Or what tire size? or ?

I made the front and rear from 1/4 4x4. Yeah they weigh a ton and I welded them to the frame, which I have been warned could twist the frame in a crash.
I had a stick welder (220v) and a chance to take a local community college class on welding, which was great and I highly recommend.

Rear and tire carrier
Again more 1/4" steel all around (I had a free supply for awhile).
The tire carrier is pretty booty fabbed ( in today's parlance) and I'm keeping a close eye on it for cracks. If it does fail, I'm going to buy one of Lance's at Iron Pigs weld on carriers. He does absolutely beautiful work and is a great guy to boot. He did my sliders and they are just perfect.
I've kind of had the,"Well why not try it" attitude with all of the welding. I figure I have to learn somewhere. If it works fine, if not I get to build another one.
