So

I have bleed the brakes several times now. They are still soft. I dont like that at all. I have not even tried or will ever probably use the parking brake. Has anyone ever replaced or bypassed or what ever the LSPBV?

Thanks Again

If you don't intend to ever use the parking brake then you will NEED to manually adjust the rears. If you don't manually adjust the brakes and the e-brake is seized (which it likely is) you can't expect, or will ever have, proper performance.

That is fine. But what I need to know is what replacement prop valve are people using other then oem.

No I have not adjusted the pedal hight/ pushrood yet. I was reading about that yesterday actually. I am pretty certain my distances are not right. See I am the 2nd owner of my 62. The PO had it new since 98. Unfortunately he did everything wrong and ieverything is rusted to s**t. That is why I want to avoid the prop valve all together. Would asjusting the pedal hieght make a difference. I took it out for a long drive today and it is just not right. The brakes as far as I am concerned should grab right away. But they dont and my pedal is soft and goes down quite aways.

Thanks

Soft, Spongy pedal...Travel when applying the brake is "usually" either one of these....

1, Air in the system (common). If so Bleed, including the LSPV..Its a must and no way around it.

2, Lack of adjustment on the rear. The e-brake also auto-adjusts the shoes, thus each time its used your brakes "in theory" are being adjusted. IF this isn't working YOU WILL NEED to manually adjust them, preferrably with the wheel off (better feel)

3, Leaks. Eaither MC of WC, if you have replaced the WC''s then look at the MC. Remove the booster hose and see if there's any oil in there...

4, last but now least (less common) Booster leaks. If the brake booster is sucking air (even small amounts) you will get a spongy pedal and the pedal "could" sink to the floor.

How can you tell if it has a booster leak. What about a bad MC how can you tell if it is broken.

A bad MC is hard to miss. You wont have any brakes or very little.

It can be hard to tell if you have air or a bad adjustment. Go ahead and hand adj the rears. They should be tight enough that you feel/hear just a bit of resistance when turning the drum. There are 2 adjustments on the pedal. One is height and the other is pushrod lenght.
