Man I got quotes from $2,000 to like $3500 in my area for the knuckle/seal repair. $1162 sounds pretty darn good to me. Needless to say, I am in the midst of doing the work myself.:bang:

I would get a quote from Mark A of Mark's Off Road in Burbank... He'll do the front axle but not the head. Expect in the $1200 - $1500 range to do it right with Japanese components and will depend on if you need wheel bearings, etc. Make sure who ever does it uses Heavy Duty 'Marlin Seals' for the axles.

The head will depend greatly on cost of finding a replacement and the cost of getting that head rebuilt. Could easily reach $3K or more.

This is something you don't want to tackle ?

That's a beautiful 62. Let us know how you proceed. I haven't heard of a cracked head on a 3FE before. What happened?
There was coolant under the valve cover when the gasket was replaced. That being said, no B symptoms like overheating, loss of power, low fluid levels, etc. Odd. I'm going to get the oil changed again and see if i see anything. Might have just been spilled or an accident.
