FJ60 struggles to rev past 2500rpms

How do you know your 60 is running rich?

Black smoke and dismal failure at emissions test. Very high HC and CO off the charts. Clearly running rich.

Any news on your diagnosis? My 60 is running way too rich and I’m in the process of rebuilding the carb (again), and I ordered a new fuel pump in case the fuel return isn’t working and the float is being overwhelmed. Very interested in what you figure out.

Thanks for the reping - I have not since holidays started. I have a damn long list of items to work through based on the excellent support from folks here. As I mentioned since the truck had sat for 2yrs, and now trying to get her to run a whole list of issues have emerged not just the fueling/timing power issue. The water pump took a dump, the rear main seal is leaking, oil drain plug is leaking after oil change, power steering is soaking wet/leaking somewhere.
