Hey guys, not sure if this is the right place to ask, but----I have a 1987 FJ60 that I am trying to sell outright for cheap just to get it out of the yard and save it from the scrapper. I thought I had it sold but have not heard back. Now, I could pack it full of steel that I have laying around and take it to the yard, but I am thinking maybe I should take the time required and part it out so it goes to guys that can use it.

That being said, is there a thread somewhere that gives fair market value for parts? If I have to do the work to part out I don't want to give things away, but I do want to be fair. It is a running 60 with a nice dash, all the glass, and Aisin hubs. I would appreciate some help in this matter.

Thanks,
Ken

Sorry Guys,

This is not yet being parted, I am CONSIDERING IT. As I stated above I am looking for a thread that helps with pricing. I though this might be a good place to ask. Sorry for the confusion. If I decide to take the time to part out I will list it as PARTING OUT or in PARTS FOR SALE.

Thanks,
Ken

Just read through the threads here. You'll get a good idea on pricing that way.

I've parted out a couple trucks over the years and you can certainly make some money, surely more than the 800 your asking for now. But, the among the first things you'll sell will be the axles and that means the truck up on blocks, which I can tell you from experience the wife and neighbors love. Although it can become a great wildlife habitat. It does make it hard to move tho. You'll be surpised how much some things sell for, like the powersteering stuff, and then you'll be offered 10 bucks for things that take an hour to cleanly remove. It also takes alot of effort on the marketing side. Usually there's a big interest at first, then it gets harder and harder to get rid of the rest. I parted my Colorado 60 and moved 5 years ago, and I still have 5 boxes of spare parts that I'm getting rid of now. Just my 2 cents.

Tmonty sent you pm, I have a glove box door on ebay, as well as a bunch of stuff. Marketing 101.

Cruiserparts.net (i think?) Is a website that sells just about every used part you can think of. However, I think most will agree they are a little over priced, but the up side to them is that you are buying from an actual company and many of their part are tested and guranteed to work. If you do decide to part out, I would be interested in the skid plate that covers the transfer case. Let me know how much you want for it shoud you decide to part out. Thanks.

Thank you for the help guys. I have decided to hold out and try to sell the truck whole right now. I have no place indoors to work on stripping it, and don't want to fight it out with the cold and snow. If it is still around in the spring I might do it. I think if I put a good carb on and get it running reliably I can probably sell it right here in the Want Ad Digest. We have a lot of hunting camps around here.
