FJ60 Carb Insulator Mod?

Is there any benefit to port matching on this FJ60 Carb Insulator or is that step there for a reason? I'm going from a Weber to an OEM Carb. Thank you.

The stock carburetor just is bolted to the stock insulator plate. Done. No modification.

Great, thank you. Coming from the motorcycle racing world, I saw that flat spot and thought, I could easily match those ports.
