fj55 stock fuel tank mounting

How is the fuel tank in an fj55 supposed to be mounted, to the body or two the frame? How thick are straps, if any, and what grade hardware was used as stock? Only asking because I have an aftermarket tank which I noticed is in place my sandwiching between straps on the frame and a piece of wood against the body. So technically, it is mounted to the body and the frame. Not a good thing, so I'm planning on making this a little bit safer and more secure.

The FJ55 tank was mounted to the body NOT the frame. It did NOT use straps, just four bolts, one in each corner of the tank edge (in the edge running front to back). I MAY have a spare FJ55 fuel tank if you are interested. I need to get a fill up in the FJ55 to find out for sure.
