FJ55 Power Steering??

Can anyone help me? I want to do a p/s conversion on my 74' FJ55. Its got a 350 V8/TH350 in it. I searched the Tech section and all I can find is the mini-box conversion. I have 2 problems with this, 1) There are no straight axle minis in the local boneyards, 2) I'd rather not have the bell crank setup ie. fewer joints. I have put my 55 side by side with my 40 (which doesnt have power steering either, but does have the V8) and it just doesnt look like there is as much room for the shafts to do a Saginaw conversion on the 55. Im sure there is someone out there who has a Sag in a 55. Can anyone show me the light? Right now at the local PNP there are 3 donor vehicles for Sag pumps and boxes. I could do the 40 and 55 at the same time. Thanks, oh yeah pics would be nice. Sincerely, Hodag.

Hey man give HI^C a pm he may be able to help... he seems to know his stuff about the power steering... but i think he likes the astro boxes

Yeah- I know what ya mean..............
My 55 has stock p/s with a V8, there is no room for the gear box,it is shimmed off the frame 3/4"(tire rubs with flex).I will (someday)put in saginaw(alaFJ40style)box in between frame rails behind front bumper.I've seen one 55 with saginaw p/s and I think it was either AA pamphlet or $pectre catalog pics.
Might interfere with winch clearance though?

Yeah, I'm lucky, HI^C actually lives here in Omaha. Ive been in contact with him. Weve talked about the Mini conversion, but I need to get back with him about the Astro. If I make it happen Ill post the pics. Hodag
