Hi- I need a recommendation for a honest body man around WA state to paint a FJ45 LV for a friend.

My buddy has owned his 1963 FJ45LV since 1971. It is all stock except the F blew up at 200k and he installed a small block chevy. He lives around Yakima, WA. He wants to restore all of the mechanical portions of the truck first.

I am helping him so that he doesn't he burned or taken. But he needs a real honest body shop that will not fill this great truck with tons of filler. I explained to him that the bodies on the FJ45LV are one of a kind and very rare. He has rust though in the floor but it is great everywhere else. I figured that he would have to have custom panels welded in where the rust had ruined the floor.

Any ideas other than TLC in Van Nuys? This guy has plenty of money but he won't throw $20,000 at it. I told him a budget paint job with no body work inside and outside would cost $4000 to $5000. I suggested a frame off with basic floor repairs would cost a minimum of $6000 to $10,000. He said no problem with that just find a honest shop.

There is not a rush on this project. Sorry no photos until it is pulled from storage. You can PM me with suggestions.

thanks in advance for the help.

Aaron

Reproduction floors are in the works if that helps. Complete from the firewall to the opera shelf under the rear seat.

Treeroot is being modest and you are lucky he replied to your inquiry :D
these repro floors are the only option for the lv's unless you find someone who is will ing to fabricate them from scratch and while your buddy might have money that would be a costly proposition. but we should be seeing the first of these floors soon and they are top quality.
if his floors are gone , which is common on lv's also look at the bottom of the doors not hard to fix but I would hate to have a 6000 paint job bubble in a year. bunch of other things I would recommend self leveling sealer in the rain gutter. best bet would be to have you and your friend read through this thread for pointers and tips
