I took a look at an FJ45 today.Dismantaled. The guy claims that it was a 1965 but it looked more like the 45lv's. It had a nonremovable roof, the doors are ribbed and were rounded at the top rear coroners much like the lv's. He claimed that it was one of ten that came to Canada as a mine truck. PTO winch and 3 on the tree. The floor pans are gone but it could be restored. No box.

I have looked but have not seen the rounded doors on a 1965. I forgot to look for the vin tag.

Is it a 65?

Any info would be great.
Sorry no pics.

was it a pickup or a wagon?

or is a 45 wagon made into a pickup?

don't hold alot of faith in the year sellers say they are, often they are 1-2-3 year off the actaul year

It is a pickup, but the cab was similar to the lv's. The story is that 10 of these fj45 came to canada as mine trucks and this is the only one that was not buiried in the mine when they pulled out. It had dual heaters one under the dash and one under the seats. Plus a liner that went on the inside of the firewall. (cold weather package?) Had the fresh air vent above the windshield. Rear window opens and the taillights were in the back of the cab. The body narrowed slightly infront of the doors and the doors had the ribbing in them like the lv's.

It was difficult to have a good look as it was over grown with weeds. Any links to pics would be helpful.

I assumed this one was modified by the owner (Eugene?). I have never seen factory lit mentioned a pickup conversion being offered.

I have a pic of another 45LV pickup conversion but my server got all buggered up :frown:

it sure does sound like a LV........but I would bet it was a conversion. There was one that sounds similar up in Alaska(which is what Root is looking for I think)

I can't think of ANY reason Toyota would make a 45LV pickup, they had the LPB.....which was longer, higher load rating and it was an off the shelf item.

my guess(wild ass) was, that some mine in Canada got a deal on some of the cancelled Mexican 45LV's and converted them them to trucks.......still seems like an odd thing to do.

Also if I recall Cruisers were not sold in Canada back in the 60's, it was the mid 70's untill they were sold in Canada......so this might make some more sense.....

where was the front heater mounted?

all the LV's I have seen had the firewall pads

was the cap/bed all one piece or was the bed seperate?

and where the heck are the pics? :)

taillights on the back of the cab makes me almost certain it was a conversion

It was a single cab not a conversion or hack job. It had a deck on it when it was at the mine thus the tailights in the back of the cab.The heater were in the stock location under the dash but also had one under the seats I am sure in is an early 60's vintage.

I will try and get some pics this week. Like I said the truck is in pieces. The cab is laying on its back and the fenders and front bib are stuffed inside. Looks to be complete.

that about all I can think of as well.

still lay money on a 45LV hacked up ;)

The heater under the seat is the rear heater...for the back seat. I'm having a hard time imagining why there would be a back seat heater in a truck that never had a back seat.

I hope you get some photos, cuz I'd like to see this thing.

agreed......only in a LV, not to say some cold canadian didn't add it......but does it get cold in the mines?(really dont know)

I considered the possibilty that the under seat heater could have been an add on, but it seems to me that if the original front heater was not up to snuff, it would be a lot easier to get it running properly than it would be to obtain and install a rear heater. That said, stranger things have happened.

I am going back for pics.

Is there a site that I can run the vin number?

VIN won't tell much, its gonna be FJ45XXXX.......same for all 45's I think
