I don't know about the troopy's vs. the LWB PB. But I do know that the SWB 45 frame and the 55 frame are in no way similar. The 45 SWB frame is pretty much a stretched 40 frame, the 55 frame is a flat frame design.

FJ45 frame

I was told that a short wheel base 45 pick-up frame was the same as the lv frame. But classic cruisers said no... that the 55 frame was the same wheel base as the short wheel base pick-up frame. ??????

No. Troopy frames and LWB pickup frames are different. Troopie frames have the tail light mounts on the rear frame crossmember just like a 40 does, where LWB frames just have a bar across the back with no light holes.

Cheers,

Josh

Yes - exactly right - the tail lights on the pickup are in the rear valence of the box - see photo

Well, yes and .....NO. The 45 SWB and the LV are pretty darned close. Same front section back to mid frame then some differences in the rear. The LV had the gas tank mounted in the frame in the rear most section, but it used the SWB under bed spare tyre mount points. The LV and the SWB are the same 104" WB. If you had an LV frame you could use/mod it to an SWB frame. The 55 on the other hand, is a 106" WB. And has a flat frame desiegn, i.e. the frame lays flat on the floor. The 40 series has front and rear axle arches for more wheel travel. The 40 series frames are narrower in the front and widen at the rear. 55 frames are essentially a rectangle. If the point is to try and fab a PU frame frome a 55, it would be about 100 times easier to stretch a 40 frame. Nothing from the 40 series body wise will work on a 55 frame, baring the application of LARGE amounts of time and cash. Hope this helps. I would also recommend you look at the black cover FSM for chassis & body for more clarification.
