FJ45 Bed Attachment

I just noticed the other day that one side of the bed aligned with the bottom of the cab while the other side did not. Suspicous, I crawled underneath for a look. I noticed that only 4 out of the 10 mounting points are attached. The other six points do not have a bolt in them.

I would like to remedy this and finding appropriate bolts will not be a problem. What I would like to know is where and what kind of bushings could I use to help attach the bed at all 10 mounting points?

Go to a industrial tire center and ask if they have any scrap. Cut the scrap into 4x4 inch pieces. There you go. This is what actually comes with an aqualu replacement tub. Not sure if you can still buy the bushings from Toyota. Have you checked?

used tire is almost what it looks like Toyota used back in the 1960's. and maybe its just my 45 but not all the bed suports contact the bed.

wow, it must be the season, because i was under mine thinking abotu the same thing. I was thinking tire or conveyer belt scrap, but tires are probly easier to find. I'll check mine to see how many are actually bolted up, but mine is like landpimp's, some are just supports. I was planning on using construction adhesive and layering in enough so that when the bolted in mounts are recushioned & replaced, they woudl squeeze the non-bolted support cushions. I'll be at the PMC swap meet next weekend and see if I can see a cherry 45 to see what the stock 'n proper way to do it is. There were some nice 45s there last year.

Jukelemon - I haven't checked at the dealership, but the tire scraps sounds like something I can do. I have a Nissan Pathfinder factory spare tire that has been in the garage for a few years now that I think I might cut up, since no one seems to want the damn thing.

Landpimp - I'm surprised that not all of the contacts touch the bed. In my case, I think I can get at least another 4 mounts attached.

My 45 uses a number of the 40-style "C" shaped bushings with a threaded plate in the middle. Similar to what comes in SOR kit No. 105-100A-B.
