If memory serves, much of the 'middle sized' hardware on 'Cruisers is 8MM X 1.25. I try and buy a bunch of that thread pitch in varying length to have around, so I can replace bolts after I remove them.
Things like the tranny cover are 6MM X1.0, I think, and small stuff like side reflectors are 5MM.
