I'm still looking into my options for a soft top, I was going to go with the paki top looking top from OCDbeetle: FJ40 Canvas Soft Top OEM Type......Made in the USA.....: eBay Motors (item 330425351419 end time Aug-16-10 12:48:09 PDT)

He quoted me $690 to the door, not a bad price at all.

But unfortunately, I don't have the factory top bows and hardware--OCDbeetle recommends buying them on Ebay from real steel cruiser parts:Toyota Landcruiser FJ40 OEM style Soft Top Bows: eBay Motors (item 360278072717 end time Sep-01-10 17:29:10 PDT)

Buying the bows is a budget killer for me, might have to go with the bestop, I think it comes with the bows, I'm just not crazy about the looks. Anyone got any suggestions? Justin, do you have any soft top bows? Would a hard top be smarter? I hate money.......
 
The troll hole guy is going to fab some...might send him a PM and ask how much he is thinking of selling them for...might be worth the wait. Best top just looks too Jeepesh...to me. To bad you did not know about the 40 before the rally, there was a guy that really wanted to sell his best top...still in a box.
 
My first Landcruiser piece! Now if I could just get the rest of the damn thing here. Looks like for now I will be doing the bikini top in the summer, hard top in the winter shuffle. That's not too bad though.

You got that thing for a steal...you should be very happy....little sanding and you should be looking good.

Just held Trollholes OEM repro windshield channel in my hand.....Stainless Steel.....very NICE.....
Will be available as needed with my tops.....Price is awesome too although not 100% sure of the final price.....
 
So,
Is there an JF40 in your future Luke? Can I get dibs on your hardtop? ;p
 
Called the guy today. Seems it was registered in Colorado at one time, but the title is somewhere out of California. I'll just have to give it more time. The owner doesn't sound to interested in doing the legwork to get the title. I will give him another week without bothering him, and see how he does. Called the DMV and they said I can bond for title, and the bond will be based off of a percentage of what the vehicle is worth. Have to pick up a bond packet at the DMV.

Rui, I don't think my top will fit your cruiser, it's a '77 top. Didn't they make a body change it '79?

I was joking, I'm good with what I have. I don't think the body changed at all, the tops did change by having a little window to wards the back, but the size is still the same.

It's frustrating knowing there is something you want and can have, and you have to wait on someone else to get things done. :o
 
Hey, just fyi

i have a FJ40 soft top, believe its by "Bestop" in very new condition,

comes with all the bows, everything...

550 FIRM. believe the PO said it was about a grand new. used for a summer.
