We've had the shifter out of the fj40 while we're doing somebody work with the tub off of the frame. We're trying to install the shifter again but the shifter is not shifting gears.

We used to be able to go through the years without any issue. We have rolled the chassis in and out of the shop several times without the shifter installed and don't know if there has something that's become misaligned. Any thoughts?

First remove the shift cane and be sure the transmission is in neutral. If you had the top removed be sure the shift forks are in the collars. The reverse fork on the four speed can be tricky small on the side moves real easy by jus tilting the transmission a little
