so Im going through a kind of knuckle nightmare right now. I was going to do either this swap or find some 40 knuckles, but ended up finding a whole 85 fj40 axle with discs for 600$. so I thought. turned out to be a pre 79 one with 3.8 gears and not the stated 85 with 4.11's. so long storey short a lot of money and time wasted to end up in a crossroads deciding wether or not to ditch this axle and just buy these. not looking for a tutorial as there are plenty on here but just quick question, swaping these onto an 82 hj47, you just need new 40 series inner axles, and grind out the inner ball on my housing for the bigger 60 birfs? thats it? might just go this route.
